Silently I looked into the dark of night
but not to see anything of earthly sight
My mind did still hear the words you said
all the thoughts stirring around in my head
You knew in your whispers of the eve before
that you would draw me back, to past's open door

The dominos of memory tumble before me,
to lay on the baize table top for me to see
In scattered shining of ivory divine
drawing my hand to make a pattern out of time
Out of the jumbled shimmering pieces lay
I slowly fit the pieces where they may

Do i pause on the double nine or take the double one
or am I mocked as I wait for the rising sun
To close my eyes would be better yet
for the pieces all fit in perfect set
Shuffle around in any which way
they all still slide back in that faraway day

Finally sleep will close my eyes
to the tune of forgotten sighs
And in my dreams, you came as you said
where once more, you held my hand in gentle led
To a glen of wonderous delight
that lasted us both all through that night

in the dominoes of fates that be
a story unfolds that we would see
a game of chance, the begin of start
now tell us more straight from your heart

I really liked the way you incorporated the domino effect into this, both creative and heartfelt.   A wonderful poem Logan!!
