The Shores of Alone

He sat in regal splendor on
his golden throne of righteous might
and ordered ladies, one-two-three
to come to him and stay the night.

His custom, as he always did
to favor thus the lucky ones
and never take a moments note
of what became of them when done.

Then came a night of full moons' glow
and just one lady did appear
She told him she was all the three
wrapped into one, so do not fear.

He shook his head, twas not his way
he wanted what he always had
but she determined she would stay
her nature, just a little bad.

Thus she did change the Emperor
and made him think a time or two
that he might want to make her queen
as she had made this old man new.

He held her close throughout the night
but come the rise of early morn
his arms were empty, for you see
his special lady now was gone.

And so he sat upon his throne
in Kingly grace, but all alone.

I am glad you have gotten past the sharp object stage. *S*  I liked the poem and like the die hard romantic that I am was sure that those that tread on others hearts like this king always end up lonely in the end.

------------------------
I'd say
he didn't know
how to keep
the special lady
safe in his keep
He didn't tell her
of her freeing
the heart of him
which was imprisoned in his cell
So
Lonely he should be
till he learns
how to stop her from going away
how with his love
he'd make her forever want to stay

Oh...Such a lovely...lovely piece Sandra...
Sorry I couldn't help but write those lines..I hope you don't mind.

Thank you dearest..

Beautiful poem Sandra. And I loved the ending. If you believe in karma, it will happen to him.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

(sad sigh) Such a beautiful but saddening  poem! I feel just like this poor emperor, dreaming for a love ever so much too! (sad sigh) You are our beautiful queen, and you are destined to love a loving prince very soon! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet Sandra! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
