Night's Embrace

The morning sighs,
through eyes of thorn I wake.
Like thief,
sun slinks its way through drapes.

In wretchedness I rise.
How dare the day
assault these weary eyes.

Be gone!
I need my dreamless sleep.
Night embraced with tenderness
and now you pull its arms from me.

If only night
could steal the light
from all my days,
this frayed spirit
could roam in peace
and never again in haze.

Great poem, after a sleepless night, the morning is not welcome. But tomorrow always come regardless of our efforts.

Oh I most definitely agree, Michael. I wish sometimes there was no morning, just an endless night to go with my dark mood.
Actually though, I love the night most, even when I'm happy.   This was very powerful.

So very longing...I really love this Michael...It speaks such lovely language, and yet quietly just wants to return to dreams. Really nice flow....

Sincerely,
Regina
