I Sit Alone...

Contemplating why I have been discarded,
many times over, in my mind,
trying to while away the hours of neglect,
spending time wiping away the stains of the past
and the fog from the mirror,
seeing more clearly.

I once believed another completed me.
Could not imagine being alone,
not sharing myself with another.
Even though I am still a romantic, I now realize
it is not true.

No one completes another.
They can add to or take away from.

You are who you are.
You carry the burdens of your life
mixed with the happiness you can create.

Cliche's are just that, and have begun
to lose their meanings for me.
Searching for newness, in words, in thought, in deed,
I hold onto my dearest friends, yet I shall invite others
to become a part of this new life...

Because I am a people person,
and can survive only so long...
sitting alone.

"For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul."
(J.Garland)

Bravo. Center Stage.

I'm not a people person, but I don't always like being alone. I'm scared of people, most people. Invite them in....it's our nature to be with someone!

Came back to say this, this is revelation knowledge
these lines right here
"No one completes another.
They can add to or take away from."

we are all complete and need no one to complete us, BUT we need others......love this, Maureen.

I was extremely happy to see your post ...
words with such strength. I am one of the
many that believe another only makes a new
statement rather than completes an old one ...
I truly hope you find what you need from this life to help you fill your day.
With my best always Maureen!

These are words from a woman who is strong, at least they sound like it to me. Sounds like someone with a lot to say. Let's hear more, shall we?

It is good to see you finding strength Maureen.  Nicely written.  *s*

I like what you said about cliches and how they become meaningless over time.  Friendships are a necessary part of life, but like you say, no single person should have the power to make or break us.
That in itself is a lesson worth learning.
(I think I've got it)

I enjoy your thoughts so much Maureen.

Though I'm not, necessarily, a people person, I can understand and "feel" your feelings my friend.  Well written declaration of honesty and feelings here.

Yes at times like this when a relationship has failed us we tend to lose hope...and wonder if happiness can be found within a relationship...I believe that it can be found alone or within a relationship...and yet it becomes more complicated when two are involved...for they both must find their happiness individually and collectively...James

Congrats Maureen! This is such a positve statement of self, without any overtones selfishness.  You are never really alone, and are always 'complete' even in the moments where you are sitting alone.
I sure do like this poem.

Truth is..I had a job interview this morning which could make or break my future.
I have stayed away just long enough to gather my references and organize and ready myself for it.
I feel confident, although challenged, in that it will be working with children who have emotional and behavioral developmental problems. And I am trying to keep a positive attitude that come next Wednesday, I will be one of the applicants to receive the opportunity to work with them.
I have had to make the move forward, and  it took me over a year to gain the self-confidence and self-worth back that was stolen from me. I know many times my poems seemed as if I was whining, or spiraling downward, but I am assuming that there is a pattern of feelings that develop when your life falls apart and you have to work through each one, before you are over the negative, reaching for more than what you are left with.
I am trying to hold onto what's left of my life as I have known it..maybe I have been trying too hard, but I don't want to lose everything I worked so hard for, all my adult life. But even if I have to lose some more in order to survive, I have made it through the worst and can only go up from here.

Thank you all, for the supportive words and lending me your strength of heart when I most often needed it. ((HUGSSSSSSSS))
