where the sky and horizon meet

0 posted 2001-10-31 12:28 PM

It was Halloween night
and the air was thick with fog.
Little Johnny Piper
was dressed as a dog.

He was going to see his friend
so they could trick or treat
at the other side of the forest
was where they were to meet.

Now Johnny is a wee lad,
so you can understand
that the deep and dark forest
to him, was frightening land.

He stood at the ominous beginning
of the path he was to take,
his legs were all a-tremble
and his hands began to shake.

He took a couple steps forward
and stopped to look around.
He kept on hearing strange noises
but nothing could be found.

So he continued deeper
into the leafy den
trying hard to keep from crying
which was improper for boys of ten!

After what seemed like an eternity
he reached the other side.
His heart stopped its pounding
and his eyes began to dry.

But when he finally looked around
and saw his bestest friend,
his stomach curled and he hurled
for she had met her end.

The beast that took his friend's life
was no using her body to snack.
Johnny decided to make his escape
just as the beast turned to attack.

Johhny screamed and yelled and cried
but it was all in vain.
The beast had caught up with him
and little Johnny was slain.

The moral of this story
to all you ghouls and beasts
the forest is a lovely place
for Halloween night treats!

Sharon~ Awww!  What an honour   Thank you so much, you have made my day!  I sure had fun with the little trick-or-treaters tonite.  I always dress up as a clown to answer the door!

Balladeer~ Hehe, yes!  There were lots of little beasts around tonite!   But what cute monsters they were

Elizabeth~ Well it all depends on who's perspective you're speaking from

Thank you all for reading and commenting!   *hugs*

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too
