The cake rose up majestically
In four thickly frosted tiers.
A thicket of lit candles
Represented all his years.

Alas, there were too many years,
As soon the guests all knew.
He coughed and wheezed and fell face down
Into the candles, when he blew.

His missus raised his hoary head,
Smudged with icing from the cake.
"I won't let you spoil," she said
"What took three hours to bake."

So they laid him out upon a bed;
His missus cut and served the cake.
The guests agreed it was the best
They'd ever tasted at a wake.

I had to smile.  Excellent humor.  Loved the line from his wife.  That does sound like a woman indeed.  My compliments!
