Somewhere... out there...

~*Three Little Words*~

I saw him walking up the street
All dressed up just for me...how sweet
And in his hand, what could it be?
Perhaps it is a gift...we'll see

Anticipation filled my heart
My eyes from him could not depart
Perhaps tonight will be the night
Three little words would sure delight

One last glance around the room
No clear signs of impending doom
It's all prepared, and now I wait
To see his face and tempt my fate

The door bell rings...my insides jump
I think I heard my heart go 'thump'!
Opened the door, my face now red
"I've been waiting for you.", I said

He looked at me and smiled back
I tried to peek into his sack
"I've brought some friends with me tonight
I hope they haven't caused a fright"

I grinned and told him it was fine
"There's plenty here for all to dine
Come on in and help yourselves
Just set your bags up on the shelves"

I must admit that I was miffed
That in his bag there was no gift
And why on earth would he invite
these strangers to our special night

But soon my anger took a turn
The reason you're about to learn
You see, I had my dates confused
And thinking back I'm quite amused

Three little words he finally said
But no...not those...these words instead
He spoke to me in voice so sweet
"It's Halloween, dear..'Trick or treat'"!

I kept trying to figure out the three words,
could not make Will You Marry Me anything
less than four.....had me going there for
a little while....Forgive me,  I am slow.
Great write,  enjoyed this.
