Daddy, can I have a drink? By Larry Chadwick Remember? It happened each and every night, When you tucked your children into bed. Pulling blankets up and fluffing the pillow, Leaning over and kissing them on the head. Good night, sleep tight, was what I liked to say, And always then, don’t let the bed bugs bite. Instantly they’d flash that cute little silly grin, I’d turn off the light and disappear from sight. But what would happen next was never in doubt, It was so predictable you didn’t have to think. And it was then you could hear them shout, Daddy, is it okay? I would like to have a drink! Now I’m no different than any other special dad, I thought those memories belonged just to me. But then I recognize that smile that's on your face, Yup, all our kids are special it is so plain to see. Sin isn't fair, but God got even, grace isn't fair either. larry c |

I remember that tune, plus "one more story, please mommy, please, then I promise I'll go to sleep", ya right after the next drink of water, then the trip to the bathroom etc etc. Funny story, and oh so true. |
