My Travels: Quebec City

It's quiet now from war and strife
this jewel of the north
Quebec City is filled with life
and talent moving forth

Along the promenade I stroll
while people pass me by
A mist within my spirit stole
into the past I fly

The future of the country set
from fighting foes that day
As French and English armies met
with war the only way

The shortest battle ever fought
outside the city wall
On The Plains of Abraham was wrought
as frenchmen took the fall

The walls are standing high and strong
testament to the past
It's stone buildings have stood so long
with mortar made to last

Now made for sweethearts everywhere
strolling on the boardwalk
The festivals of life they share
whispering lover's talk

I've walked along the cobbled street
a dream within my heart
To share this place where lovers meet
among this ancient art

(smiles) And very soon, you will return to this marvelous architectual wonder, holding the hand of the man of your dreams. (sigh) Oh Karen, I long ever so much to go here, as I have read too of the history along the Atlantic coast of Canada and the Vikings and Skraelings and early settlers, and I can't wait to visit this beautiful city. (smiles) Very soon, he will fidn you, and he will love you forever! (kiss on cheek) Another wonderful poem, dearest friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Karen; We have had the privilege of visiting Quebec, and found it to be so beautiful.  I would love to return someday.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem.  Wanda

Lovely Karen. I've never been to Quebec City, but one of my favourite customers is there and has been trying to convince me to visit. He was telling me that they have a fantastic music festival there in July, so I have resolved that I am going. Now, if I can just find a sweetheart to take with me!!!!

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Karen...the more you write about these places,

the more I wish I had travelled north to
see just one of them.  but I know I would
not be satisfied until I had seen them all.
Would you give a guided tour?

Karen~ I have visited Quebec City twice (I'm just next door in Ontario ) and loved it both times.  It is such a romantic place...you have described its essence well

Hugs,

Startime,

I haven't really been able to visit that many places in my lifetime, but with poems like yours I can experience the excitement of these glorious places without having to go there. Thanks for sharing.

Fascinating, taking trips with you like this. My Grandmother was born there, and I have never seen it, but would love to.
