Pearl Diving

The idealist in you has risen,
surfaced in unsure times
into a stormy harbor.
Around you,
ships are being built,
but not for trawling
or exploring new worlds;
in your music
a net of verse forms,
questioning:
where are all the fishermen?

Musicians stroll this pier,
trumpeting the mood with each blue note,
for everywhere there are women
holding children,
crying,
waving goodbye
as fathers, husbands, lovers and brothers
drift away.

A heralding chorus
echoes in this crowd,
“why do we erect ships
when we could be searching for pearls?”

Corinne,  I like this...I have been there.
Standing and watching as we drifted away
as you said it....

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Corrine, I know just what you mean, it's just like how there are many more ships out on the ocean that needed for fishing! (sigh) It's the treasures and wonders of the world that matter much more! (smiles) Such a beautiful and inspiring poem from your golden heart! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corrine, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thank you all for commenting! Obviously, the song that inspired this is about ships being built for war. Just picked up this CD and can't get enough of this wonderful song!

Thanks again!

Ah, very, very good...we never do know for sure the guise a pearl will take...so we should hold all things precious...

Don't see enough of you, Girl...

I almost went pearl diving once, but chickened out at the last moment, I liked the whole poem. You write very well.
