time speaks again, and I wonder if I’m supposed to listen,
it’s not like it hasn’t spoken before,
but, if it was supposed to speak to me, it didn’t say so
it just kind of boomed over the clouds
like an angry god demanding time from a world that was far too busy
to notice that we should have listened to it

so, what did we listen to?
we listened to our digital watches,
our cell phones,
our time clocks,
our television screens,
our computer monitors
and anything else that went “beep”
when we should have been listening to those things that went
“waaa” or “hello” or, more importantly, “Help”

but, no, we didn’t do that,
and where do we find ourselves now?
we find ourselves in the middle of that field of dreams
wondering why it seems more like a nightmare
and wondering if we’ll ever wake up from it
and, if we do wake up from it,
wondering why we ever went to sleep in the first place

and so, time speaks again, and I wonder if I’m supposed to listen
how can I when I’m trying to figure out just what it’s saying?
it’s like time speaks it’s own language
and what language is that?
the language of the spheres?
the language of love?
the language of things past?
or, is it a language that I’ve forgotten is my own,
a language that I can use with my fellow human beings
a language that starts with the words “my friends. . . “

time speaks again, a little louder this time
or, was it a clap of thunder from a heaven
that has decided that we’ve been around enough
and is taking matters into its own hands?
a heaven (or an earth) that has decided that it’s time for us to go
to go to that place that we’ve only heard stories about,
that place that we’ve sang songs about and read about
call it what you want, but, it’s there
or, so time would have us think

Time speaks
and we are to listen
because Time doesn’t speak in a language that isn’t so
indecipherable that we can’t figure it out
I wonder if we don’t just hear it and ignore it
figuring that it’s not speaking to us,.
it’s speaking to someone else. . .

so,
the next time that Time speaks
will you be there to listen?

You just keep on listening to your heart, it shines golden and true.

A lot of food for thought here, John! Much enjoyed!

Every time I look in the mirror....time
is speaking to me....Saying...."Hey you!"
You the man not so young any more.  You...
the man standing at an unknown door...
watching time go by ever so quickly....

Nice thoughtful read Sven...thank you.

very intellectual piece Jon, filled with many questions that unfortanetly mankind doesn't seem to be able to answer.
Very thought provoking, I enjoyed it.
