Night, the darkness of it fills,
And empty makes the soul to feel,
Except, within the candle light.

Raw, nerves bundled too tightly
Against this that comes nightly,
Except, where ever the beams are.

Rain, darkened to just a sound,
As it batters itself to ground,
Except, where candlelight gains.

Fear, lingering beyond the touch
Showing so little and showing so much,
Except, when the eyes won’t peer.

See, look and peer past the light,
The candles flick and strobe the night,
Except, within the darkest beauty

Keep, burn the candle’s yellow flame,
Sear back darkness’ cold pain,
Except, where blown out to weep..

Gloom

Professor Gloom - oh, I really liked this!! Candlelight really is wonderful, isn't it? You are right, the only time to blow one out, would be when we want to shed some tears.....even then it would be hard to see the comforting flame extinguished. Chris

well, this read very, very well. I felt the warmth from that candle all the way down the page, even in the rain!
