The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2001-10-29 11:39 AM

Once in a land of faraway
a little lonely princess played.
She learned to dream quite early on
because her Dad, the King, was gone.

She often looked out o'er the cliffs
and held her breath while making wish.
Please bring a special prince to be
the love she craved to set her free.

And as she grew, she felt the need
increase within her, she would bleed,
while sighing vainly for this man
Sure he would come and understand.

Then came the day he crossed the moat
and carried her through gates of hope.
She blessed her luck and thanked the Gods
for she had waited very long.

She thought her loneliness was done
and he was true, the only one.
Imagine her surprise indeed
when off he rode upon his steed.

Goodbye he said, it wasn't real
I'm sorry for the way you feel.
She gazed at him in disbelief
and fell to ground beneath his feet.

She cried so much she might have died
instead, she stood and screamed out WHY
She thought her life was over now
but then she made a special vow..

She found his secret hideaway
and late one night while he did play
she waited for him as before
and shouted at him NEVERMORE

She took his sword and ran him through
for there was nothing else to do
and left him in the dirt that day
to find a true Prince who would stay.

Sandra,
Congratulations on your 5000th!! And it was beautiful as always.  Your Prince is still out there, just never give up, my dear sister. You deserve all you write about in your poetry, and your heart, and more beyond that....

Oh yes I know that it feels like someone has thrust a sword into your heart when heartbreaks come...let us hope the next time that it is a brave knight ready to take on the dragon of an enduring relationship...James

Congratulations, Sandra. That's a lot of posting! and when that prince finally shows up, make sure the sword is out of sight, and out of mind. Hehe... just in case.

Sandra, the beginning of this was the charming and enchanting style that you do so beautifully. But I'm sorry, I just loved the end part where you ram him with the sword. It's so unexpected....and so "right" somehow!!! And yes, the right Prince will be along. Just keep your head up...you'll see him.

      CONGRATULATIONS ON 5000!!!

Whoa!  Now I gotta have second thoughts about writing one for you.

I will, of course, have to search you thoroughly   in order to determine the presence of possible lethal weapons.  Then, since I am a very thorough fellow, I will have to repeat the process

Ok, turn around and face the wall ... Okay, you can face me but not so heavy with those chocolate eyes for they hypnotizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

The Princess seems to be learning to be a Queen with this vengeful verse and Queens need no prince to rule. Congratulations on this milestone and the severing of the chains of a millstone.

Congratulations lil sis!!!!!!!

Oh, yes......this Princess did have reason to retaliate, as fairy tales are supposed to end in 'Happily Ever After'!!  But maybe the Princess will, in real life, find that Prince who will be everything that she ever dreamed of........it does happen......I know!

The road goes on forever, and the stories never end...
