(just a muse I had to get out)

She was petrified
after all what did she know
about this man?
Surely, he would never harm her.
The world unraveled around her
and now she finds there is nothing
truly wrong with her….
what poetic irony!
Just fear at having her first affair!
She’d revealed everything to him
everything….
and yet
no!

There would be no “first affair”
After all, that would make her a tramp!
Well, that’s what she was taught
to believe!

But her words, her expression,
her poetry, her emotions……
they are alive, damnit!

Should they stop?

Or continue on for whatever
therapeutic
means available to her?

Does he care?

What sacrifice can she possibly do
other than disappear?

Should she?

There is no torture that
could possibly
hurt her any more.
Nothing seems
real and yet her expressions
on a page…seem genuine.
They exist in a box-
yes, a screen.
But they are alive
and read.
She is not so alone.
How sad.
She will not be pitied.

She knows in her heart
and her spirit she could never
hurt anyone
for she never has.
She never would.

She just sits, cries
dabs rosewater on her lobes
and chants-
small whispers,
prayers
a fool’s prayer
A poet’s gasp
just something rational
wondering….

why she lives alone
why her walls close in,
why her eyes swell,
why her body aches for a man
her soul overflows with
untamed verse

She just wonders why.

She wonders why love is
so illogical
and in raw whispers
knows she is too.

Ah, but there is joy in
one consolation.

Smiling, she knows….she knows
she is still a Lady.

Oh, now this is really good! She can be both, though. She can 'tramp about' in fun, and as long as everyone plays fairly, she is still the lady.

thanks all, this woman is an idiot!  She missed a golden opportunity! No, seriously, the rest of the world is making love and she's...well, maybe I'll write about her in the adult forum!

Great muse there and interesting subject. Whether to take the moral highground or follow her heart.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

no, miss Lady, what i said was...

"walking on is the gift............"

it's the walking on from being trampled that is the gift. the ability to get up, brush yourself off, carry on, one foot in front of each other, head held high, with a smile on your face, knowing that although you were walked all over, you will not allow it to hurt you, but instead, it will only make you stronger inside .... it is the Walking On that's the gift......

Oh! I'm sorry! That's beautiful, yes that's what I want! What you said....and more! I thought you meant walking on someone!!!!   Words! Sometimes we don't understand

Gosh,  this could have been written about
just any one of us.  Even the guy side.

I enjoyed your way of expressing this.  I
doubt I will forget this one.  Very well
said.  thanx.

Okay..I've read this four times at least.   I read it earlier today a couple of times, but didn't have time to comment. I still don't know what to say. Your writing is wonderful, and you have a new fan, Lady. I adore your work. Thank you for sharing such a gift with us.

Magnus, yes it probably could be from a man's point of view, thank you for reading.

Temptress, you read this four times, why thank you hell, I was going to stop writing.
I almost didn't post this. Felt it was too
bold...but after reading some of the other poems here I see I have been TOO timid....
poetry is about taking risks. A gift should be shared......( read that somewhere
