You wrote me last night, an electronic letter, email...no postage.
Cost....one heart, one soul, one shattered mind.  Left behind as trash.
I could have hit the delete key but.....I could not do it.  So....
I read it, I cried, I almost died a thousand deaths.

You said you didn’t love me, you never did.  I still cry.
You said there was no room in your heart for me, my tears fall.

I knew something was wrong.  I knew that all of those moments
of silence, the pauses between posted words were time’s kiss to me.
A kiss of death of a love torn from within me, the clock tolls now.

You have no idea how long I have gone without food, water.
I sit here looking out a blank window, stare into a screen.
The unwavering words are still there, my courage won’t erase them.
They are already embossed into my soul and mind.
A nuclear blast will not remove that hurt from within.

I tried to call.  The monotonous sound of your voice after four rings.
The beep that says see ya later, leave a message.
Well, I have one here for you, here is my message back.

I wrote my letter telling you goodbye before you ever sent yours.
Check your other Email address.  You know....the one he has.

C YA.

The same screen we have a silly grin at can bring so much pain so fast.

Death comes not when we cease to breathe, but when we cease to dream.

Lately, I've been deleting more mail than I've been reading. Damn spam.
This poem has the strong scent of truth in it, magnus. I'm sure there are a lot of emails like this out there.

Nancy....I hope that a little bit of a smile
might come upon a few lips from the end of
this one....Sorta fitting retribution.
Glad you enjoyed the read....Lord,  I don't
need another debate/discussion one....But
I did feel good about putting the words out.
And I still do.  Thanx...

Rusty Kn....  You are certainly right about
that....This same screen that gives us joy
can deal a bad hand to us as well.  Love
has come a long way since the internet came
to us.  In many good ways and some not so.
Thanx for commenting.

Ok Alaska,  AKA Midnitesun....Do you have a
real name?  I have missed it somewhere.
Mine is Barry.    Yes....I too am afraid
there is a strong degree to truth to seeing
letters somewhat like this via our wonder
Email Server that provides a totally emotionless
service without a smile or smirk.

Thanx.

*giggling with delight* turnabout is fair play in this one, my friend. Actually...it is very sad that so many hearts are played so unfairly. *sigh* sometimes one wonders where the lies begin and the truth ends. Wonderful writing again from your pen.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

OMG, this is so exactly how it went, except I did not get to send one first, as you did. But all the rest, wow. Heartless, sometimes, thats for sure. You said this so well.
Peace.

Internet love - is certainly every bit as real to us as any other - and its demise every bit as intense... You pen these emotions well, Barry...

Sandra,  thanx,  seems that we all either
have similar experiences or know of them.
I am fortunate to have escaped this in my
reality world.  It would crush me.  It would
crush her (my wife).  But I do love to express feelings.  Sometimes very intensely.

Thank you Nan.  Yes,  I can get going at
times,  have to sit here and meditate over it
to get worked up for it...Sorta like a boxer
before the fight.  Seriously,  yes,  sadly so
does this happen.  Love can work in so many
different directions.  Not all good and not
all bad.

Tis a hard game to play when you are trying
to cover your tracks all the time.  Sooner
or later,  the bloodhound finds the trail.
Not nice to decieve and lure one down a path
that has many thorns along it.  thanx Hope.
Have a great day down under.

I love this, especially the ending, but it seems like I see something else in here also. The ending..yes..it intrigues me and makes my imagination work up a scenario a bit more. lol..but I babble..apologies for that. I adored this poem. It has great truth, but let us be reminded to never say never, and not to judge.   See? Made me think, ya did.

Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence.

You can not throw rocks when you live in a
glass house....That is why I use tennis balls.

they are much softer,  don't break the glass.

Thanx Temptress.   happy you enjoyed the
read....and I won't confirm or deny about
the ending....Never tell the audience the
last line.

Thanx Amy....yes,  we must be careful about
the Inet and love,  certainly can be a place
where you meet so many.  many good times
are had here.  and a few not so good.  This
poem sort of speaks of those moments.
