October's Chill

A lighter side to gray has consumed the view I see overhead
So, my friend as you button your overcoat and face the crowded streets
Tuck inside my wishes that I send to the first star that appears
For October's chill it has a message just for you from me...

The star greets me with the coolest winds as if it can hear my every word
And, without hesitation my heart speaks messages I hope you can hear
One by one I place my faith in what nature placed before me
Hoping that the wind sends you my heart this time of year...

I watch the leaves throughout the day and find meaning in them all
So, when you see them blowing along those streets think of this
You know the yellow ones that shine like the sun in summer time?
They are there to let you know, My Friend, just how much you are missed...

Sometimes you'll see the orange ones dance along the cold, cold ground
But, it is the orange ones that say that you are safe
They stand for my wish that your very present and future in life
Be guided, so gently, at an angels pace...


Think of the brown ones touched with a trace of gold
To be my way of saying how touched that I am
And, as my thank you for being what kind represents
Like a hand shake between the miles of two friends...

The red ones they say so much all on their own
That through this October's chill you are not alone
If you still wonder if you will ever be warm again
Then remember the leaves and their message when the cold day ends...
