For the Moon and Me

I see your fire burning down,
raked up and spitting out summer
until all that bright sun
just crisps and withers in the air.

Now I see you
take the pumpkin of autumn
onto the porch,
and know you sit in cool’s air
watching time moving
into change,
for I can hear your chair
with the thrash of rattan.

The moon squats into the sky
all bloated and filled up,
do you see it in it’s attitude
of forgiveness?
We give it such magic portent
that sometimes it does this wink thing
and I know it is just a moon,
nothing more.

I see the fire of autumn you burn
taking all those youthful tricks
that played you,
along with the midlife crisis,
they flicker into bright shooting stars
before they sigh into a question of degrees.

Make a book of feelings now
with the light in the corner
cushioned and mellow
turning the room to comfortable,
but don’t forget to keep the curtain open,
for the moon and me.

and so I just know
that love never dies
and that souls hold all the candles
and they are the kind
you can’t blow out

As usual, vivid imagery floats from moonbeams falling from your quill.

I can learn a lot about writing simply by reading your own.

This certainly was a work of art Martie, and painted with your words I had to view it twice, and keep it.  Thank you.
