October’s chill is here once more
the same as every year
the days become shorter
and the nights become longer

the snow begins to fly
against shifting shades of gray
as I button up my overcoat
to become part of those shifts

I see the children in the park
running and jumping in the leaves
wishing that I could be
one of them again

the day moves along,
people come and go
faces all the same
names never registered
they say the same thing
words never heard

the grayness becomes brighter
(if that were possible)

the night comes again
much quicker as I said
and when I walk home
the moon now begins to
greet my way, smiling in sadness

October’s chill is here once more
the same as every year
and, as I button up my overcoat
I wonder if I will ever be warm

again

Sven,

   Oh I like this one...

"I see the children in the park
running and jumping in the leaves
wishing that I could be
one of them again"

That is my favorite part. There are sooo many times I wish I could be a kid again. *sighs* Good write.

Hugs,
Tara

October in New Orleans
be the season of the witch!
I open up the windows
and greet the nights with bliss.

(It's GOOD to be the Goddess...lol... )

Sven, Love this piece as I enjoy this style of writing.  Yes, it is dark and cold today and that wind!  Enough to blow the pumpkins down the street!  Come sit by my fire and warm yourself a bit...hot chocolate with or without marshmallows?  ~Warm hugs, Nancy~

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sven, I know these feelings ever so well too, and my heart goes out toy ou. (sigh) You may not be a boy now, but that child always lives deep inside of us, and as long as we follow our hearts and hold on to our innocence, we will always feel the joy like a child does, and to see beauty in all the wonderful things of the world. (big hugggsssssss) We all love you so much, sweet John, and all our hearts are always with you! (sigh) This is a sad but beautiful poem, dearest friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sven, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Sven my dear, there is something I've learned, you are NEVER too old to play in the leaves or the snow!  Though it helps socially if you have a child with you!!  LOL
And you'll be warm again when the spring sun caresses the world yet again.....

Nicely done. I love the images, the overcoat, children jumping in the leaves....
