Deep in the heart

0 posted 2001-10-26 02:47 PM

This from my personal archives.  I don't remember if I have posted it before.
____________________________________________________

Just the two of us
committed to each other
no reservations have we
only longing resides here
where other thoughts once called home

There is one small word
that talks only about me
and that word is "I"

I give you my life
take my heart for it is yours
I shall need it not
unconditionally yours
take tenderly to your care

Yet another word
speaks so emotionally
and that word is "love"

You give me your love
I cherish it forever
I give you my love
and you have humbled me so
you take my love as your love

There is a third word
that does not talk about we
and that word is "you"

You whom I adore
the reason for my being
you on pedestal
far above all others here
you, the woman of my dreams

Three words, I love you
what more can I say my love
I love you, I do.

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

With all the lovely evocative images of language, those three words cannot be topped.
It's poetry of the heart.

Who could ask for more?
I was especially moved by the way you ended this.  The simplicity of love and loving,
we simply do.
