Heartburn

I've tried to reason with the stars,
to hold your soul, I've travelled far
and, still, it's just no use
this love is down to ashes ~
burned by bitter truth
~
I've sacrificed too much of myself
draining my dreams upon your shelf,
your ice kisses sting right through me,
I'm jaded...a willing prisoner,
trapped in your vacancy
~
There is no care in your caress,
no electric kiss, no tenderness,
your eyes refuse to undress my soul
as I ache to ashes within your hole,
you've drowned the key, dried the sea
I'm left to sweep love's memory,
there's no purpose, no room for me,
no paradise, no reverie,
no sunset shore to walk upon
no body mesh until the dawn,
we don't exist - a refusal to be
of heart burned to the third degree
~
And, I torture myself
with want in weep
desiring a man
unable to keep,
a mind, punished
with insanity
for my sacrifice
of inability,
of weak strength
to break free
from these chains
of misery
~
There are no pills, no tablets sublime
to cease the slap of destiny's time,
no place to erase
this smoldering void ~
a wildfire of emptiness
of love destroyed
~
And, I combust
within myself,
a flame, so blind
upon your shelf,
my heart explodes
in your hollow embrace ~
there's no drench of hope,
no saving grace
~
Letting you go is my redemption
though, I ache with indigestion...
and, my heart, it screams in rotted romance
as I burn in nocturne of what could have danced

Melissa words escape me this is so phenomenal.
And it feels like you are living the same thing I am, or at least are well aquainted with it.
I have to save this poem, wish I could claim I had written it, and send it to HIM
Love your work, and your strong heart is showing here.

WOW!!!Not only do your words set fire to the poem but the emotions expressed burn from your deepest core. My heart goes out to you that you have to endure such pain as is caused by a love that is not returned in full measure. **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
