Season’s Tryst
Virginia Salter

a carpet of gold
lies just beyond the door
the kisses of autumn
abound evermore

leaves thick as quilting
cushion the fall
with glorious color
delighting all

come with me
step beyond the gate
into the velvet
of season’s sate

dance to the rustling
of marimba-leaf play
rhythmic’ly swaying
in gaiety’s way

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

"cushion the fall"
================
I LOVE it.  May I have the next dance.  Not great in latin but do a mean Tango, an acceptable Rhumba, and an exciting Cha-Cha

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Thanks, Interloper...such an exciting idea...have done the rhumba, not the tango, have done the cha-cha well. I'm ready! Pretty sure I can't do the rhumba anymore.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

We're all dancing in autumn's splendour ...
except the wind today had me dancing down the street, chasing my trash cans ...

very nice Virginia

Exactly what my yard looked like this afternoon.  Wouldn't it be great if Fall was followed by Spring instead of Winter.  But that would really confuse the squirrels.

I love the fall...And this is a beautiful description.

Look into the eyes of a man and
you will find the soul of the woman
who loves him...

Nice bit of gold, Virginia . . . I can see it alit in the afternoon sun . . . seems to me fit for a waltz across the lawn . . . in waves of gold.
Thanks for this pleasantry!

This is vintage Virginia and belongs at the top.

I'm sure you can do the Rhumba, it's a box step with latin wiggle

Maybe you're talking about the Merengue which I do not like for some reason:-(
