In the time of falling light
taking deep into the night
A figure sits, legs crossed with ease
others gathered against the trees
A story they say, we wish to hear
something of times we hold dear

Enough of all that goes on now
give us some magic if you allow
Tell us of wolf when driven to the sky
that all his kin now lift mournful cry
Or of the raven or turtle wise
make it glow in all our eyes

Of the great white stag who did appear
to the council of forest folk whom held him dear
Tell of the salmon who wished to be man
and how he came to leave the land
Speak out to us, old ancient one
draw the night out to early sun

The old one smiled into the night so fair
upon hearing a wolf howling into the air
He laid a stick upon his fire
sparkling rainbow colors as his desire
He lifted a hand in silence keep
then very slowly began to speak

My father used to prepare pinecones so at Christmas, he would place them in the fire, and they would sparkle the rainbow colors...

you've brought back a fine memory, Storyteller...

ahh my sweet keeper.. you give me far too much credit..but I thank you for sharing this lovely story with me....
when I saw the pic I knew it was meant for you...
keep the fire burning dear Logan...
we need the warmth of your wisdom...
and the light you shine on our paths.

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

Logan--A fire burns now in words of time, each stick a thought, some told in rhyme.  You've captured the glow, dear one, with this poem.

Glowing, warm piece.  Your wisdom, your spirit, shines on us all.  Wonderful write!

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

This has the slow turn of a series to come, so I shall sit and wait, patiently, for the Storyteller to begin, for sometimes the best stories are begun in anticipation.
