Even now
I stand here
naked
(cloak of yesterhue)
I took each punch
I thought I had to
I spat the bite,
(too much to chew...)

Don't ask me to explain my life
when sanity is soft clay edge...
Don't ask me to explain my life.
I'd rather explain yours instead.

Even now as I sit here
clothed
(enrobed of dues unpaid)
I take my pencil
to the page
erasing edge
of things unsaid
I wander in my mind again
pop-the-whip
with all my friends--
dizzy dancing
hand-in-hand
sing-song
cruel
of no man's land...

a child in exile
rattles cage
shaking bars
of reject rage
kicking at the leaves
that float
from Autumn trees
in rainbow's molt--
every step
misstepped again--
a dance askance
I stumbled in...

House of mirrors
mocking me---
the labyrinth
of grin I see
every face
leering at me
is photograph
of used to be...

I was just about to go shower when I thought I would read one more. Great write as always Karen. Has a very haunting quality to it. You write your emotions with great flair and style

Those words really speak to me.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Snap!
Attention is demanded,
Snap!
Attention is commanded.

To whom was the whip handed?

Was it the leather wrapped words,
Softly heard,
Yet on soft soul skin does welt,
Harshly felt.

Mocking mirrors show the face,
Crack!
Every wrinkle in place,
Crack!
Urged on without touching grace,
Crack!
Photo of how youth did taste,
Crack!
Flogged away in time’s great haste
Crack!
So much behind left in waste.

If you can explain my life baby...
Id be able to fix yours
heart-hugs me twin... and mirrors.
mothy me

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

Serenity, very gentle smile, but the child in us, does need to come back out and play. For the laughter and smiles of children is still the best meds in the world
