Antique Tractor Blues

Over the years, husband, Dave has collected
many old tractors, some of which I objected
First came the old “R”, the “40” and then the “D”
The last time I looked there were fourteen to see

The phone would ring; he’d smile from ear to ear
My thoughts, “He’s getting another tractor I fear”
Sure enough, it wouldn’t be long before I saw
another green tractor sitting in the paint stall

Last week he announced, “It’s time to sell a few”
I couldn’t believe what he said was true
Sure enough “For Sale” signs did appear
and were stuck on the front, spec sheets on the rear

People from many states came to take a look
I heard the “Put, put” from every cranny and nook
The Old D was sold to a man from Tennessee
I was feeling blue, can you believe it of me

Today, I have to smile at this change of event
Selling the tractors is causing me to lament
Husband, Dave, is doing just fine
I’m the one shedding tears of brine

This is cute.

So you gave poor Dave lots of *****in
But now them tractors you're missin
Me,I'll stick with collecting cars
Tractors won't fit in my garage
For tractors I'm surely not wishing

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Rocket Ride and Way Out Walt; Thank you for your response to this posting.  As you can see this has been a growing hobby for my husband.  There does come a point when it is time to do something about this growing hobby.  Believe me, there are still enough of those "put puts" around.  Wanda

I like this, a tractor fetish! LOL. Sorry you had to part with things close to your hubby's heart, but, at least you kept the ol' man, right?

Tracey; Ahhh, come on now.  If you have never had an antique tractor (green of course) that makes this lovely "put put" noise, you just don't know what you've been missing.  Thanks for your response.  Wanda

(big hugggssssss) Oh Wanda, I know how sad it is indeed, for I feel selling tractors is like selling so many memories and stories together, and the tractor my grandpa sold was the birth of my communication from my autism, and getting to learn to love others. (sigh) Oh Wanda, my heart is with you, though I know that in the end we've gained something special when something has to go! (big hugggsssss) BRAVO!!! May God Bless You this morning! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Wanda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Noah; There was a sense of nostalgia when the tractors were sold, but there are still quite a number left.  I seriously doubt he is going to let all of them go. You are right, there are stories with each one.  Our grands love to come and crawl all over them too.  Thank you for your early morning response.  Have a wonderful day..Wanda

Karen; This has been a hobby that has gone on for many years.  These tractors have been in parades, displayed all over our front lawn, and somehow over the years, I GOT ATTACHED.  No one was more surprised then I was about this. :-) Wanda
