Wondering

Some days the emptiness overflows,
the heart loses it's rhythm,
beating a different tune.
Words never said, repeat themselves
over and over until forced to open eyes,
and see that there is no one there.
No one to share them with.
No one to say them back.
Funny how words mean so much,
can change the dark to light,
can uplift a spirit when spiraling downward,
can bring a smile to one's face
and a twinkle to one's eyes.
Funny too, how when missing,
you want the world to go away.
You want to cocoon yourself,
pretend you don't exist and for a time
it works, but not long enough.
I wait for those words I don't often hear,
wondering why that is.
And try to put the idea out of my head,
that maybe they no longer exist for me.

"The worst prison would be a closed heart".
...Pope John Paul II

Wynter,
Nonsense, you are a beautiful soul
And I'm sure some day will reach your goal.
*L* PS. enjoyed the read.

they exist Maureen, all good things come to those who wait.  (I get kinda tired of waiting though at times!) Nice express.

That's right, good things DO come to those who wait. Patience and understanding will always lead to happiness. *BIG HUG* I really loved this poem

But just a rhymer like by chance..."

Maureen,

They all say that good things happen to those who wait. I agree I'm tired of waiting too.
