Screaming MeMeMyI's
~*Marge Tindal*~

I find it rather saddening
bordering on maddening
when constantly I see
an overdose of ME

I'm sure we all have known
the popinjays with ego's blown
proportionately larger than they should be
with constant reference to ME, ME, ME

Their sad is always sadder
Their joy always gladder
Their surgeries more impressive
Their troubles more depressive
Their losses more painful
Their riches more gainful
Their skills always better
right down to the letter

Sometimes they forget how sticky
the web of deceit can be
Especially when the tale they told today
isn't the one they told last week !

The growing web of their insecurities
are intricately woven with pompous lies
They fool themselves into believing that
we don't remember the MeMeMyI's !

So we pat 'em on their swollen ego's
and to their boasting we turn a deaf ear
And pray the day never comes
when they cry - and we don't hear

One day the popinjay cried wolf
and nobody came~

"So we pat 'em on their swollen ego's
and to their boasting we turn a deaf ear"

So very true Marge. We do get a little jaded when someone plays the dramas of their life out a little too theatrically. I've known one or two in my life who have fit this description, and it's hard to muster up the sympathy some days, even when it may be truly deserved. Very nicely composed my friend ... I enjoyed your ponderings in this piece!

Best wishes,
/Kit

An interesting mixed media
From popinjays to spiders in webs,
To nursery rhymes and wolves;
Perhaps simplification could be tried,
And tell the offender of the MeMeMyI’s
To attempt to avoid mirrors,
Just so simple of an attempt might highlight
The focus.
An allow refocus.

(big hugggssssss) Oh Marge, this is so so true, to be egotistical and to live in vanity can be quite a devastating thing in the long run to feel no one's listening or watching. (sad sigh) It's important to love ourselves, but just as important to share our love with others for the real joy comes in sharing and being there for each other. (smiles) Wonderful poem, dearest Marge, you always amaze me with your wonderful words! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Finding this waiting this morning
Was, I admit, disconcerting.
Have I whined and wailed too much
And my problems just been blurting?

Excellence you've written here
But my conscience is guilty...
Marge, I really like your poem
But pray to God this isn't me! *G*

I don't know how you do it,  but you write
such entertaining poetry.....YES...I have
known a few of the ME, ME, Me's....and
they can certainly drive you simply bonkers.

This is so cute. Yes, I think we all know one or two of those "listen to me, I've got so much to say, but I won't listen to you" people. I try to avoid them like the plague!!!

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Oh Gads the scads of memories of a woman I worked with decades ago who had to be 210 for all that she had done...

perhaps she just walked many a plain...{I'm laughing at me now!} but how this brought back the memory of her...

and I still smile at all she said she did...

Thank you, friend.
Listening comes easy~
Discerning truth from lie not always as easily done~
I guess I just don't understand someone's need
to 'puff themselves up' with tales of deceit.

Yes, my friend ... you would hear~

Well...if you ask ME, then I will be
happy to give you MY opinion!  LOL!

Yep...it really IS sad when someone
thinks they have to 'one up' everything
that others are going through just to
   get a little added attention.
But, I'm with Martie...I'm glad you are
able to tell the truth from lies too.
   Hugs,
