Abigail

Dear Abigail
the earth is like bread
stale in the dry winds
of my transgressions
She forgives little
and asks much
returning meager gifts
within the harvest's burden
Save yourself and shun my breath
cutting me from your heart
One swift strike of your sickle
and the bleeding will begin
carrying my scorn far from you
Embrace this time to heal
let the moments find you well
with open arms to a new love
worthy of your keeping
and the eternity of your smile
Dead to you as I am
and should remain
Your once and seldom hero

Wow, good writing. A sensitive subject, penned beautifully

This reminds me of "Legends of the Fall"! My heart was yanked out for her...and the letter. A hero once is more than enough. Simple things are divine. Very touching write.

Sincerely,
Regina

Gee, I thought you were talking about our Passions newcomer, Abigail...scared me for a sec.  Great write now that I know it isn't she.  ~Nancy~

Willie,
How wonderful for us that you found your way to Passions.
This is incredibly beautiful.

Your writing reminds me of Woody Guthrie for some reason - I hope you're not offended. I really enjoyed this piece too...

Hi, "Woody Guthrie" I take that as pure flattery, though I admit, I'm not well versed in his work (music, or otherwise)
