Mercury has gone direct---
but things are not quite better yet.
Quicksilver of the liquid shine--
I thought my words could make you mine.
I thought if I danced long enough
I'd show you that I had the stuff--
I thought if you would hear me sing
you'd not want for anything...
And should I draw the world anew
a portrait painted rainbow'd dew--
I thought if I wrote poetry,
surely then, you would love me.
Tiny stitches, delicate,
each thread a dream that I once wept...
I painted my lips ruby red
in hopes that you'd kiss mine instead.

I thought I thought of everything--
I think too much, I think, methinks...

Serenity, this brought a tear of remembrance to my eye. You don't know how much I have felt this myself. (Mind you, I'd like to be able to pen it as well as you do   )

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Just read it again. Had to add it to the library. Don't mind me, I'll be very quiet here in the library!!!

Just be yourself.  That should always be enough.  I loved the imagery in this one and it is one that leaves a person thinking.  Wonderful work, Karen.

Me thinks too much sometimes too, but I can't pen my thoughts as poetically as you.

'I thought my words could make you mine.
I thought if I danced long enough
I'd show you that I had the stuff--
I thought if you would hear me sing
you'd not want for anything...'

I remember doing that song and dance a time or two. It never worked for me either.

I thought

Pluto far and small from site
Beauty and love on a visual night
Shining gold in distant dust
Appearing at dawn or dusk
Solar winds blow kisses when
In mating call to the hen
Silent space an empty place
Until the words from your face
Kiss me now, you know how
The rooster awakes and then the cow
Bird’s sing loud of happiness
It’s a good morning I must confess
But I prefer you here in bed
Instead
And reapply your ruby red
The animals will get fed

I thought you’d think me thoughts I think
Thinking the thoughts of you I thought

Pretty pouting ruby red
Purty please you said
Huggy wuggies for you my friend
An inspiration it stays to the end
But there was something I forgot to do
At the top, should have read…For You
But you insist
And I better resist
A twinkling star and written in blue
It must stay close to you

And you are so sweet? YOU'RE DANGEROUS. hmmm...or perhaps IN danger?

evil me....I will leave you in ponder of that thought!

Thank you, for the response, I do so love being pleased twice! (and so quickly too!  )

Methinks.... I do like your style...
methinks.... I'll languish here a while
Methinks.... Some hearts are shown each day
methinks.... Your words have much to say.

(reflected *sigh* AGAIN)
pass the Windex baby...
me thinks its my turn to clean the mirrors

OH...and.......
this line????..............

"Quicksilver of the liquid shine--
I thought my words could make you mine."

*shaking me head at you* (again)
and wishing I had wrote this poem.
me thinks I have now

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

You did it again, girl, just what I was thinking, in such a less maudlin way than I could have said it. Great write. And I am on my way to new Orleans, I need a party SOON.

Love this one, sometimes we assume that our sacrifices can make others happy. But some people have a shell that can't be broken, it's life.
