The Unknown

The stillness of silence
can be very unsettling,
no movement, no voice,
just a moment of time
that appears to be frozen
yet continuing forever forward.

And in its mist
lives the unforgiven,
the accused, and the punished,
searching for the very thing
that torments them.
It will be their only escape
from themselves.

As their souls
cry out in vain
the silence will be broken
and so will the cold stillness
that surrounds what remains.

The unknown can be a very scarey thing C.
You capture that feeling well.  Nice write.
