I had a magic pencil
that use to serve me well
but now I've gone and lost it
and my writing's gone to hell.

The words no longer flow for me
out across the page, it sends me
smack into a friggen rage.

I stare for hours at the totally
blank page, where once I would be
filling, with many a wonderous phrase.
Now I set and stare as if I'm in a daze.

I hope I find my magic pencil soon
cause the one that I am using just flat
quit and here I set in a friggin haze.

I have so many phrases running round
my head. I'm almost out of room to store them
and some are growing dim.

They're crammed in there like cord wood
with no place to go. I work for hours without
a thing to show.

Until I find my magic pencil this is all I
have to say. Guess I'll just keep trying till
I find the one that works, and takes away this

I know the feeling only to well
i have tried self disipline
that works -a bit
you get something which is usuable
But not worth a dime
i find just dreaming is best
try and just switch off completely
just relax
and wait for what you need
just one strong image
then you have it
the word bashing is easy
but a good image is hard to find
so stop looking and dream

I be looking for that pencil
so you can get back in the game
your writing is important
not something to be tamed
Look under your bed, around your house
I'm sure it will turn up
I'll keep an eye out for you
Hey maybe it's in a cup!
I've been there dear poet friend
it will come home soon
Just sit back and look around
You might just here the tune

Nona,

I had to laugh as I was reading this cause I too have a special pencil that I have to use to write my poetry. Unfortunately I had to choose one that was 3/4 of the way gone so I have no idea what will happen when I've sharpened it to a stub. Hope you find your pencil soon.
