Except for dust motes
changing patterns, aerial acrobatics
teasing errant light slants, every day
is gray, varying shades.

Shifting erratically, airborne
for an indeterminate amount of time,
they tire, flat and stale.
It is survival of the most agile;
flexibility and the strongest instinct
to catch the air current.

She follows her intuition, knowing when
to shake the linens free of wrinkles,
while still warm from the drier
and slightly damp,
creating new designs, a
kaleidoscope of intricately orchestrated,
soft tap steps.

Wood baseboard requires cleansing,
eight cotton shirts await spray starch. She will
perform her duty after the sun sways a shadow,
lowering the curtain mid tango.

although it's rather  boring for a Saturday night...I sometimes enjoy the quietness of folding laundry and the fresh scent of softener. *s

Oh, you have painted a picture of Saturday night, all right. And do you dance the tango with your vacuum cleaner too? LOL. I have to put music on to clean house...a mental diversionary tactic.

Wynter-- Quietness is scarce in my household so I do enjoy the rare moments but that's when I also do the mundane chores. One of these years I'll have the silence AND nothing to do ...  at the same time. *grin*

BrightStar-- I appreciate the bump!!

Midnitesun-- I've gotten pretty good with the dancing. At least I can't step on any toes! *chuckle*

Decaflame-- Yes, it's such a colorful word, isn't it? *smile*

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments!

Caresses the harshest of curves.
