A poem I wrote for my stepfather, who had a stroke and the doctors, thought he would die. He is still very much alive: walking, talking, laughing, yet, sometimes his mind is now in a distance land.  I hope a peaceful place.  It must be peaceful for he is so kind.

Voice of Love

She held the hand of her stepfather,
As he lay dying she was softly whispering.
“ Can you hear me?
I love you very much.”
He smiled and said, “I love you.
You will forever be my daughter.”
Then she asked our Heavenly Father,
“Will you treat him special?
He is the sweetest man I have ever known.”
A single tear dropped onto her hand.
Then the miracle happened…
now over a year later he lives.

Thanks, for your words of kindess about my poem.  He really is a special guy...I told him I consider him my "real" father.  The one that bore me is not so nice or kind, so I appreciate Roy even more. He only married my mother after I was grown with nearly grown children of my own...he is a gentle person.

What a wonderful poem! I am so glad he was given another chance. Enjoy the time, for even when he seems distant, you know he is right there with you in spirit.

Oh this is lovely, and I'm so glad that he is still with you. I have a stepfather too, but he raised me since I was seven, so I too am closer to him than my real father. Here's to our wonderful stepfathers

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Red-uni - this is very touching. Well done, Chris
