With trembling hands and chills
Out the door she flew
Whirling the staircase flat
Breathlessly streaking down the street

Pushing the deli door open
Flinging shop bells in a fury
She confronted Mr. Fetherall
Barely able to squeeze a sentence

“Did you...send me flowers?
I received...the sweet rolls
This morning..early..Thank you
Flowers...Lilies...White?

Mr. Fetherall wiped his hands
On apron and came round counter
To greet her...steady her
He could sense her shaken soul

“My child...I’m sorry..No Flowers
I just thought you’d love a treat
I wanted to wake you with gift
The sweetest morn I have to render”

She exhaled in uneasy confusion
Unfolding in the comfort of his voice
Gently, he began to understand
The mysterious floral fancy

“You know...I’ve known you
Since a tiny child, And your Mother
She was the most beautiful flower
Even though she abides among the Saints”

“Her spirit dwells Amaranthine
In you... Please do not close
Your passion flower to the world
Someone desires to witness your bloom”

“The Angels are smiling on you
Bronte..Your walls must come down.
Climb them as your Mother did
As the wildest Rose of Ireland!”

Tearful hugs in departing
His graceful offering remained
the deepest well of her day
She dipped in and out of his wish

Regina,  I graciously give comments...
Accept these....

this was awesome....a very tender and so
beautiful a poem.  It may not have been
flowers, but it certainly was so nice.

Regina, the eighth and closing stanzas standout for me, as the intrigue of "Bronte" continues.

you're walking with her in your dreams aren't you??

I feel that there will be more indeed my friend. . . for she has much to say. . . and you are her voice. . .
