I got engaged 2 weeks ago and wrote this for the two of us.....My love, you are my light

Friends Unite

The beating sound in a far off land,
The sound of my heart as you asked for my hand.
I’ll take you as husband; you’ll take me for wife.
As this venture we make together for life.
The road may be rocky the hills may be steep,
But with vows to be made and promises to keep.
We’ll strive to conquer and remain best of friends.
In the times one is adamant, the other one bends.
For better or worse, to have and to hold…
To honor and cherish even when gray and old.
I give you my heart and open my soul,
You came into my life and made me whole.
The doors you’ve opened, through your eyes I see,
How your friendship and love brought happiness to me.
You’ve held my hand and showed me the way,
Without telling me what to do, think or say.
Your shoulder was there when I needed to cry,
I could bend your ear and with a wink of your eye,
You’d tell me things would work out in the end,
And forever I’d have you to call as my friend.
I love you so dearly, your soul I embrace.
It is you, my love, who brings a smile to my face.
Now as we embark on this unity for life,
I take pleasure in saying I’ll be your wife.
You’re all I want in a husband and more,
A friend for life, of this I am sure.
So on this day as our souls become one,
This path we have chosen has now begun.
Let us not walk in shadows, but side by side,
And by the rules of marriage we shall always abide.
