where insanity meets breeding

I walk along the banks of Bewdley, alone except for my thoughts
And my memories of our day here, a picture in my mind caught
The old town hasn’t changed much, such a pretty sight to see
And it tugs at my heart strings remembering, what you meant to me
The sweet shop still stands on the corner, the one you took me too
You bought me that gobstopper and laughed cause I couldn’t talk back to you
The rows of houses are pretty here, all with such tiny doors
You said that you would buy me one and I loved you as never before
I watch the ducks as they paddle on by, a tear escapes down my cheek
I remember how you kissed me here, and my knees, they go strangely weak
Why is it some loves just simply won’t die? Why do I still love your heart?
Why do you haunt my waking thoughts?
Remind me please…why did we part?

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Tracey, This tugs at my heart. But, it also makes me smile - Gobstoppers!! I am ejoying one right now! Luckily they are the smaller ones or else I would be drooling all over the keyboard...lol. Well done!! Chris

Thanks Nightshade and Startime. This is a love that still haunts me from many years ago. I wrote this last month when I was in England and visiting a little town we used to go to. I am mostly over him, but the occassional twinge of him pops up, then I write poetry. lol

I can sure relate to this one, except I remember very clearly why we parted.  And we both agreed to say it was my fault.  lol  Great write, Tracey.

You both agreed to say it was your fault?? Somehow, I believe there must be a story there. Actually, I think I recall you saying that in one of your poems. In my case, I didn't.....well, it's a long story

I like this very much, Tracey... It touches this heart of one who's loved and lost and is left with questions that will never be answered. *S*

Tracey
This was such a heartfelt piece of writing and so very sad.  The imagery took me back to the U.K. which is a place I adore and have many fond memories of.  Take care....Sue

Aimster, thank you for the sweet words.

Suthern, thank you also

Sue, I'm glad you have fond memories of the UK also. It is such a beautiful place, if you know the right parts

It's good though, to be blessed with reminisce that tugs at the heart with wonderful whys instead of the need to avoid certain parts of ones life

Very nice Tracy
