Butterfly Stealth
By Larry Chadwick

When I was five years old,
I learned what stealth was for.
It wasn’t about being bold,
But about silence and more.

I liked to look and watch,
At the beauty of a butterfly.
Couldn’t resist the urge to catch,
How’d I know he would die.

So now I've learned not to touch,
Unmolested now I pass the butterfly.
I still enjoy them just as much,
But now I just smile and walk on by.

Sin isn't fair, but God got even, grace isn't fair either.  larry c

And a wonderful memory it is. I so love to watch butterflies. They are so very delicate yet survive so much. I love this poem and could picture a young child saddened by the death of the butterfly. I walking through the memories written in your poems.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

I'm so happy that you learned to keep your hands to yourself! Hehe, thanks. I love butterflies, and what you said is so true. Best to let them fly free.

Startime,
You do so well at reflecting what I felt in these experiences.  Did I know you as a child?  Thanks, by the way.

Marge,
Well, thank you mam. I really appreciate that.

Seymour,
You got it.  And thanks.

Midnitesun,
I only said I left the butterflies alone.   Okay, you're right, better to watch.

This is cute. Your childhood memories are bringing us a lot of enjoyment on the blue boards

Larry,

This is beautiful. I love watching the butterflies as they gather around the butterfly bush. Somehow they just seem to be so peaceful.

A very nice poem.  I enjoyed butterflies as a child and now with my grandchildren...at park if we don't see one we have imaginery ones cupped in our hands and tell each other what imaginery color our butterfly is....this is nice for they don't die.
