                       The Leavetaking – Part 5

…his ship had harbored in the bay
the fog yet to burn in late morn
droplets of mist surrounded in gray
as I held our babe, just born

“M’love, do not tear up so,”
                        he chided, so tenderly
“I shall be back, upon my vow!”
                        he whispered, quietly

I looked deep into brown eyes
                        his promise I wanted fulfilled
but a tremor came over me
                        unwanted tears had spilled

“My dear love, my sweetest heart,
be careful, come home to me!”
                        anguish filled his countenance
he held me tightly by the sea.

The call was made to set the sail
each man to board the ship
he stood and waved from the rail
to me and the babe on my hip

I stood firm ‘til I saw no more
his ship gone from my sight
fate was now in God’s hand
and I, to wait through the nights

then, it came, a missive was sent
                        the letter, edged in black
                        but the grief overcame
hot tears brought more memories back…

Ahh Lady...do you read minds?
I saw part 5 in the title and realized I missed 3-4 in my absence since Sunday...then I saw your thread leads....
thank you...I shall keep this one as my link to the others and read them ALL in order.

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

Oh gosh.....I cried with her when she had to let him leave the safety of her arms. *sigh* this series has me captivated. I love it even though it makes me cry. More please.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
