I reach for greatness
with hands of mediocrity
feet planted in failure
while this transient wind
flickers now my erstwhile soul.
Tumbleweed, forever.

And on that middling day
when I cry out
ENOUGH
mayhaps someone in passing
might remark unto my families
my State and state of being.
How I was.
What I did.
Where I lived.
(Reckon ah can stay mebbe coupa days?
Then ah gots to be movin on.)

And if so compassionately moved
by guilty complex mind
and out of duty to
Ma
Apple Pie
The American Way
they can burn me
or bury me
or dipped in rubber
showcase me.
I care not, save one detail,
a modest plaque:

Middle Child, Alicat

Dipped in rubber??? LOL. So you can bounce back again like a tumbleweed bouncing along the highway in the western badlands?
I enjoyed reading this unique poem.

Always a pot on up here, if you ever make your way back.     Tumbleweed, indeed - but one of my favorites!  hehe  Good write kitty, but I'd expect nothing less from you.

This is so cute. Though I'm sure when the time comes, they'll have more to say on the plaque than that. lol

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Seymour (reminds me of where my mom was born in Texas *smile*), WindWalker, Midnitesun, Startime, Lady in White, and Tracey. Thank you for taking the time to read my poem. Even one reply is enough to make me smile.

Snikkidoodle, when I pass that way again, I'll be sure to look you up. Oregon is such a beautiful state, and one that I miss greatly. Hmmm....if I consider Oregon my 'state of mind', reckon I could get a tax break? LOL

DP (my fav soda), I might just take you up on that when I head to Maine in the spring. Time will tell, and thanks for reading me.

Ahh, the words of the wanderer. Beautiful imagery. I really enjoyed this.
