Even through my own deluge of tears
I saw and felt the intensity of your pain.
So many tears, I felt we stood in icy pouring rain.
Pain pouring from your wounded heart,
your once comfortable world, suddenly ripped apart.
And you say you don't know which way to turn
to try to mend the deep tears of your soul,
So you reach for that elusive goal of peace
in solitude.
Not wanting anyone to try and comfort you.
The hurt is much too deep...
no hands could ever reach inside
where you believe you should hide
from the sight of daylight and sunshine.
And so you say you just want everyone to go away.
But I reached out and touched your hand anyway,
and felt a charge of energy so grand
it sent a spark of hope,
a glimpse of a new day on the horizon.
So I held you close,
so you could scream.

This reminds me of a period in my life many years ago when I was going through a very stressful period in my life and didn't see how I could make it through and shortly thereafter as I prayed to God two wonderful friends came into my life and helped me make it through...I will never forget them and I owe them so much...one was Andy and one was Margaret...unfortunately Margaret passed away....James

A good friend is one who, when hearing the words "Leave me alone", reaches out and touches anyway. Yes, I believe you are that kind of person....

The love you showed to your friend is as rare as a precious jewel. You have the gift of a loving and giving heart that we all can see in every word you pen. This poem touched me very very deeply. Thank you, so much, for sharing it with me.

Thanks for reading this, but mostly, for being here all the time for the Pips family.

i love this all over...

"leave me alone" they say...and you hold them close so they may scream....so they may be ALLOWED to scream....so they will have justifiable reason to scream......yes..this is awesome.....  i'm really liking this one...

This is powerful.....I too have been through
a time in my life when I felt life was not
worth very much to me....the pictures of
two little children,  my children is what
kept me alive and living...What gave me
my strength....That and a very close friend
who reached out and held me while I screamed
too.

I loved this poem..

dgvarner, what a nice complement! 'you love this all over' made me smile. Thanks.

magnus, I am so glad someone held you close so you could scream, and that you had two little hearts that were also there for you. Thank you for sharing this.

Midnitesun,

You are so right, my friend.  This could very well have been written for me.  Sometimes the pain we feel goes so deep that no one nor any thing could ever ease it.  Wow, this was an awesome write.  Thank you for mentioning it to me.

A friend that can touch this close, is a true friend indeed. How did I miss this the first time around?...this is an astoundingly beautiful piece of poetry and friendship Kacy.

Tracey, thank you. I've missed so many good ones, I think I could read 24/7 at this board and not find them all.

Lone Wolf, we all need hugs. Even my friends that seem to be made of cast iron need a hug once in a while. LOL...cast iron is hard to hug!
