shadows paint the scene
across the wall as I sit
with my phone in curled palms,
as I wait for a wake-up call
to confirm my existence

no phone, no messages
it's been such a long while
that I ponder if I exist
even as I wonder why I still
pay the phone's subscription bill

all alone amidst curtains tall
as silence dances in my hall

well, in a manner of speaking,
roughly,
my language has been
polished

I have learnt the speak of stones
and the art of being inert,

emotionless
maybe lifeless?

I have yet to speak
I was never let to

The phone never rang,
did it?
no ear ever heard
perfect!

-!-

You paint a very moving picture of loneliness here

all alone amidst curtains tall
as silence dances in my hall

Love those lines

Sudhir, so good to see your words again. It has been a long time. I enjoyed this, though I could feel the loneliness too.

Sudhir---Hello, my word to breach the empty room you wait, and reach across the world a hand held to halt fate.  Such an emotive write, my friend...take care of yourself.

the rocks tumble
and locks rumble
the ring shall sound
soon

This is excellent, Sudhir - it's been some time since we've been gifted by your pen...

well done, Sir!

"Hello...
Is it me you're looking for?...etc"

I couldn't help but remember this song as I saw the title of your poem....

Reading it, I feel all the loneliness it describes so eloquently and in such heartfelt way.

Nice to see you back Sudhir....& such a wonderful piece....

Thank you

It's a good thing you keep paying that phone bill. That call is only a ring away. Maybe even today.

We must have the same phone system... paying to be tormented. *S*

If I tried to pick out my favorite lines, I'd end up repeating the entire poem... You've incorporated some of the best images I've read lately... the poem is superb!
