The Real Bogeyman

In this sightless desert
the dust is a constant storm,
and night brings with it
not stars nor semblance of moon,
but nothingness,
ushered in by lonely wails of soldiers
stolen by battle.

Even in death,
both sides are present,
caught in eddies of sand
whipped up from hell,
washed anew in the fresh stink
of mortal blood.

With a depraved heart,
the Bogeyman swoops and jeers,
willing their spirits to descend.
In a slash of a smile,
it slobbers over recent casualties,
anticipating its adored delicacy,
a Pavlovian call to drink
the wine of hatred.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Corrine, this is such a heartbreaking but well-written expression of the violence in this war. (sad sigh) My heart cries out to all the innocent patriots and their families affected by war, and how it can bring such sorrow into the heart. (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet Corrine, this poem is wonderful and your loving heart speaks strongly! You have such a beautiful heart, dearest Corrine, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Corinne,

you have depicted the horrible side of war.
Television does not show all of the truly
horrific sights that war brings to eyes.
With both sides experiencing such loss.
Excellent Poem.

The power of your poem indeed shows us what the truth of war is. It's horrors still haunt those who have witnessed it and now again it will haunt the lives of many people. Magnificent writing.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Wow! You certainly do have a profound way with words.
Corrine, you convey the ugliness of war so powerfully!  I am deeply moved~

Take care,
Melissa~

Ahh, dear, dear Cor, your imagery with words is only matched by the power of what and how you write. This is an excellent work and one of your best...very gentle smile with a hug

This one gave me chills. You have pictured the ugliness of hate quite vividly, in its stark reality, and not the pablum, watered down version of 6 o'clock.
