I am Woman
not merely her soul
not merely her spirit
but her very being

I am time
the passing of days
the passing of cycles
I am the very ages

I am woman
and
I am time
and because I am both
the ages of Woman
are under my eyes

I am Protector
I am Comforter
I am Fate
I am Queen
and though my name
was once silenced
it is now spoken again
just as it was
for generations
and so it shall be
for all time

Art: from Gods & Goddesses

This is the third of the Voices of the Goddess series.  Thanks to rwood for the idea.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Juno is the wife and sister of Jupiter, and Queen of the Roman gods.  Her name was once used to describe the soul of woman.  Just as the soul of a man was called a genius so the soul of a woman was called a juno.

Another lovely goddess in your series. You are enlightening me so much with these.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

OR, you can just "e me" at: soliwitch@juno.com....ROFL...(but you KNEW that, didn't ya Sven?)

Another gorgeous installment---I was intrigued with the graphic and the peacock...I was just reading somewhere that peacocks were a prize possesion of courtesans, and the number of her flock was a status symbol of her success and adoration...VERY interesting tie-in there, I thought. Applause and curtsey!

These goddess series poems have been quite interesting and speak of a lot of research on your part
So, were the Juno awards named with her in mind I wonder?

Beautiful, Sven Pen    You seem to say so much with few verses - and you say it so wonderfully.
Makes me wonder if Canada's Juno awards were named after her, too?!!

Take care,
Melissa~

Temptress, thank you. . . glad that you're learning right along with us. . .    and I know that you have your favorite. . .

Lady, woman is indeed many things. . . and yes, every woman is a Goddess. . . thank you. . .

Regina, thank you my friend for your wonderful idea. . . this was fun for me to do, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. . .

Tracey, so glad that you're enjoying these. . . there will be more. . . thank you. . .

serenity, yes, I did know that (how could I not??  LOL). . . and yes, you're right in your observation of the peacock. . . makes me wonder if this is the reason why women are able to "see" everything. . .    thank you my friend. . .

Rex, thank you my friend. . . yes, there's been a lot of research behind these. . . it's been very fun, and I've learned a lot about these wonderful Goddesses and how they influence us still today. . .

Melissa my friend. . . thank you so much. . . it's always good to see your words. . . and, for you and Rex, here it is, straight from the Juno Awards website. . .
quote:
A year later, the event changed its name to the Juno Awards, at the suggestion of reader Hal Philips, who asked that the magazine honour Pierre Juneau, the then head of the CRTC, which had implemented the Canadian Content Regulations in 1971. When it was discovered that Juno had been the Chief Goddess of the Roman Pantheon, the spelling was changed and the awards permanently named.

so, yes. . . they are named after her. . . kinda cool huh??

Tier, thank you my friend. . . I'm glad that you enjoyed. . .
