I ran across something yesterday when
cleaning out old files,
and I was positive that I needed it no longer.
Anger.exe. I couldn't believe it.
Surely it was outdated-
it had been almost 25 years
since it was first installed.
I didn't do a back up
I was ready for this thing to be out of here.
It had been collecting dust
for far too long.

First I tried an uninstall
but I was promptly informed that
the executable was corrupted.
I rolled my eyes and cussed my luck
and looked for a way around it.
That's ok, I will just delete the folder.
It didn't take long before I was confronted
with-ACCESS DENIED....
accompanied by some message about
how the system was currently using this file.
But that couldn't be right,
I no longer use that program to stay
the threat of a complete shut down.
It no longer pops up automatically when you
flip a switch, and besides
it is too old to still be operating properly.
Oh, I know, maybe a shutdown.
A fresh start always makes
things easier.

So at first light I tried again...
still no luck, this time, my delete button
even got stuck.
I tried a copy/paste and sure,
it was happy enough to multiply.
I tried a rename and found out
I could call it whatever I liked.
Where ever I moved it,
there was no problem, but just
try to get rid of it and it was the same old
ACCESS DENIED

I must have hit Refresh twenty times
but it seems my system has
grown dependant on this application
I can't seem to function without it.
I need a operating system update,
my files have been corrupted.
My dynamic links are bent and twisted
my drivers are prehistoric.

And then it hit me
I know just how to fix this!
I just need to remember where I put
that program....
I remember the promises, the instant
online help index... I can't believe
I put it to the side; I tried all these years
to do it all alone...
Now where is that program?
I know I saved it in one of those
sounds to good to be true spots...
Let’s see, maybe I have it filed alphabetically,
in the n's or the o's....
ahhhhh here it is.

By now I am so troubled by this
unwanted baggage, that I am
in desperate need of an
Operating System Overhaul.
Quickly I fumble through the instructions
looking through for a quick fix
or a trouble shooting page, but
the solution is so simple
when I finally found it,
it was almost hard to believe.
It says simply activate your faith
and He will lead you the
rest of the way...

Jellybeans,

It seems to me that poets need to be involved in the business of faith fully as much as clerics. Your words reminded me of something I read the other day. "The probability of life originating from accident is comparable to the probability of the unabridged dictionary resulting from an explosion in a printing shop." Thank you for your reminder. Bob  PS I hope all is well wih you.

What a creative work of art! I tried to ditch the anger.exe from my miniscule organic thought processor.  It is a tough one to overwrite.
