I sit here in the eve again
Icicles on my windowpane
As I scrape away the crunchy frost
I spy a little Robin …Lost

He sits upon the frozen tree
And sings his wondrous song for me
The lilting of his magic flute
Matches the brightness of his suit

His small red breast he puffs so proud
And entertains the sparrow crowd
A song so sharp as Jack Frost’s hand
A beacon shrill in winters land

As summer dies and winter creeps
And leaves all blow themselves in heaps
Don’t think despair when nights are long
Take comfort in the ……..Robins ‘song

For he alone in the frozen land
Can feel the touch of spring’s deft hand
As he sits defiant in raging squalls
His song a song of hope…….. he calls

So listen to his restless song
And learn from him it won’t be long
The sun will shine with warmth again
And flood back trough your …..Windowpane

I really enjoyed this, Jon. I won't be seeing any robins for several months now, as it's below freezing here in AK...winter has arrived. The poem has nice cadence, and I can almost hear your robin's call now.

Jon, this is so lovely. Just yesterday I opened my back door and suggested to a Robin in my withering garden, that he had better be on his way south, and that I would see him in the Spring. Thankyou. Chris

Thanx everybody..........as usual you are all very kind........I thought in these troubled times a song of hope would be nice and as before 'Mother Nature' provides the material.........as I write this the little guy is still singing away for me....I've nicknamed him PIP........from now on a bit more time seems available to me so I'll be reading more of your folks' stuff....once again thanx and............

Stay warm and safe

Jon
