Siblings
By Larry Chadwick

First I had my son,
And I was so proud.
Then I had my daughter,
And I wanted to shout it loud.

A boy and a girl,
How could I want for more?
My very own children,
Such a pleasure to adore.

It started early on,
With my girl and my boy.
They would both fight,
For the very same toy.

First I had one gender,
And then I had the other.
How could I go wrong,
My daughter and her brother?

Births far enough apart,
They wouldn’t dare compete.
Besides, they were mine,
What could be more sweet?

From sweet little toddlers,
A time when they would drool.
They kept up their feuding,
All the way through school.

But now they’re all grown up,
And moved so far away.
It’s time they got along,
And made their fathers day.

Sin isn't fair, but God got even, grace isn't fair either.  larry c

That does it, I'm off to have some kids.
Very nicely written. Love the flow here.

I have two brothers and three sisters, and we always squabbled. Then we grew up, moved away, and rarely ever speak or visit one another. Sometimes I wish we were still fighting in the back yard.

Sinister Handed,
I knew you'd get it.  I never really knew 'til they were gone and they told funny stories on themselves.  But now... Hey thanks.  lol on your decision!

Midnitesun,
Ain't it so.  Distance is a killer or a good excuse, never sure which.  If we've got siblings we've all been there.  Thanks for the read.

SmittenKitten,
I'm sure we all know it well.  Now is harder than then.  But thanks for the encouragement.    And I'm glad you liked it.

Windwalker,
Welcome to Passions!     I'm glad you like the poem.

NancyLee,
Well, they're minor flare ups.  But you know parents.  I'm delighted you enjoyed it.  The ending to the poem came unexpectedly to me.  Maybe their differences will also.

Larry,
As a mother, I so understand what you are saying, You know my little ones and they don't always get along either....just keep praying, they'll get there!

Larry, Even when they are all grown up, they are still our little off-spring. We can only pray for them and love them, as we would hope they do for us. Very nice. Chris

Cindi,
But we love them no matter what, huh?  Always, as you do yours and I do mine.  Bless you.  Thanks.

Nightshade,
Absolutely, and wish for the best.  It'll pass.  Thanks.
