I'm sitting here writing this rhyme
trying to occupy my lonely time.
My words they surely now are none
are days of writing my poetry done?
Nothing I write seems to make sense,
when I used to write with such cadence.
What once did seem so easy to write
now seeming to much of a fight.
My thoughts I can no longer use
while in the absence of my muse.

I have such a passion for written words
but now those words are no longer heard.
It seems that my muse has gone away,
I hope she'll soon return to stay.
These words at one time I had read
from a poetry friend who said,
"As long as blood flows through the veins
the heart of a poet always remains."
So I'll take these words into my heart
while my muse and I must be apart.

I'll pray she'll soon make her  return.
as my passion for poetry does still burn!
So excuse me if I should falter and fumble
but without my muse I'm bound to stumble.
I'll keep writing these words, yes I'll try
as time just keeps slowly passing by.
I hope my muse will soon show her face,
that my words again she might grace.
Until the ink flows smoothly from my pen
I'll try to remember the words of that friend.

For now  words of dear friends I'll read
until my muse again will concede
it's time that she makes her way home
and not leave this wordless poet all alone.
I'll try real hard not to despair,
I know she's out there somewhere.
Why oh why can she not see
what her absence is doing to me?
Now if the heavens would be so kind
as to allow me my muse again to find!

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

oh how well I know my gentle friend...
How ironic we can write about NOT being able to write...
and while its an oxymoron....
I know what your saying...
its SO NOT what we NEED to write about...
and yes...its important to feed the need with words...
coming here and sating that need is a way to keep the fires of inspiration burning.
I'll bet your muse is on the same cruise mine is on having a lovely time.

Here I stand like it matters...
once love is through-it gets scattered by the rain
and pain gives me the right to be unkind ...

Well then Janet, I'm a bit jealous that they are having all the fun!  Let us hope they shall return again soon.  As I told a friend this morning, this is what poets write about when they can not write!   Hugs JM.  Good to see you doll.

Very nice,
shows that it's not gone,
just pausing,
awaiting something to draw it out.

Oh, Gentle Spirit, Can I relate to this!! Seems so long since my sweet muse has whispered in my ear. You have penned this very well. Chris

And don't we all know exactly what this one is all about!  Only I wasn't sure if you were saying you were "lonely" or "looney" so I opted for the first!  Laughing...well done, GS, so enjoyed!

Ah Gentle Spirit... I think also that our muses take vacations from time to time..she will be back.  From the look of this poem she has not gone far!  Lovely poem indeed.

I am graced by a muse who has given me so
much confidence in myself and my writing.

I sincerely hope your muse returns....I
know well the problem with being stuck.

Our hearts control our writing,  and IF our
heart is elsewhere,  well......so goes our
writing.

thanx for a great poem.

It's hard when your muse is gone, but it's nice to know your skill is not forgotten.  Nice job.

That sure is an awful lot of words for someone who claims to have misplaced their muse. LOL at some of it, as there are many days when I am sure I am positively museless on this earth.

We all have our days when our muses
decide to "leave". But, it sounds to
me like you found it in this poem!
Thanks for the read.

It looks like she has already returned.  Now, into the library with this for a
inspiring write on how we can't write
when our muses leave.  Vacations or not!

P.S. Will she be busy tomorrow??? Just inquiring.

Sincerely,
