Amateur Radio

Ensconced within my "shack" they say.
Yet rain unbuttons on the roof,
and makes the attic
warm and foreign.
The distance corners me away,
a truth unknown, though fairly common.

Bob--"rain unbuttons on the roof"...great line, how I wish I'd written it.  You have such a talent to encapsulate so much feeling in a small space...and leave the reader like me shaking head.

Bob, this is great. . . it's like a thought that takes the reader on a trip. . .

well done. . .

Bob, I know exactly what you are saying!  My son is a 'ham' and on rainy days he loves to stay in his 'shack' and tune in the world.  I must show this to him.  Good write.  ~Nancy~

Martie....thank you. I was a bit shy about using the phrase you mentioned but it does seem to capture the intimacy and romance that can attend the late-night search for distant lands, not to mention the fact that amateur radio can sometimes seem like the "other woman" to a spouse. Bob

Sven...you are always so quick to comment on my work and I rarely comment...though frequently read...that of yours...and others. Thank you. Truly. Bob

Nancy....Smiles. Thank you. And my best to your son. His involvement in amateur radio speaks well of him. I wish him the best. Bob

Sunshine...more smiles. Yes, I agree. Just like Fred and Ginger up there. Bob

Interloper.....Laughing SO hard. Thank you for the kind words, especially for your last word, my friend. Semper Fi, especially in these difficult times. Thanks again. PS Why should this be making the tip of my nose tingle. Sigh. Oh well.

Sunshine....I have never known Morse to be anything other. Now, "Sparks", well, he is an entirely different story. But as long as we are on the subject of code:
