White billowing against the clearest blue
I sail on hope that these won’t be the last
October skies I see through freedom’s hue
And breathe a fervent prayer for heroes past
And present tense. I’m guilty as the rest,
Who took for granted liberty hard won,
Assuming birthright in a land so blessed.
I fall now on my knees before the Son,
Bring goodness from this horror, I implore,
Bring beauty from the ashes, that’s Your way,
I’ve seen You do it many times before,
Protect my loved ones through this trying day.

Preserve our land and heroes through this fight.
Deliver us, I pray, from terror’s plight.

Amen, I share your prayer

What a beautifully compassionate sonnet.   Well expressed, Denise!

Take care,

Beautiful and fervent prayer

A brilliant poem. We are all with you against terrorism. No matter where we are from.
