Upon the page the poet’s heart is traced
Indelibly, remaining for all time;
The soul exudes sheer elegance and grace
Free flowing or constrained in cadenced rhyme.

The finest gold and silver of the earth,
Beside the poet’s pen, cannot compare,
Completely lacking the intrinsic worth
Of rarest renderings so freely shared.

These priceless gifts indeed have made me rich,
Sweet tender words that touch me to the core,
Or comic tales that leave me in a stitch
Of laughter 'till I'm rolling on the floor.

With pen in hand the poet doth impart
Exquisite treasures mined within the heart.

What an awesome sonnet, Denise!  I love it, all poets should read this beauty
And, of course, my library would be honoured to have this poem

Take care,
Melissa~
