Sorry folks - I don't like to write when I'm feeling down - But there are occasional exceptions.  Both of my daughters are diabetic.. Today the second of my three munchkins has been diagnosed as well.  I wrote this last time I went through this... The doctors say that it's rare for even two siblings to be afflicted. Yet, this is the fourth time I've endured this very difficult day - leaving only Cassandra untouched...

For the loves of my life...
Stacie - Sandra - Garrett - and now Jake

DIRDUM

The greatest gifts in life define
Devout parental care.
Souls woven of life's finest thread
Darn pride in fledglings' fare.

My quest that I might stand their stead;
Same tears shed thrice before.
Mellitus lance bescourged this day
Sweet progeny once more.

What future's cast as shadows lay
Beneath their ventured stride?
Insidious this curse within,
Ensuing years decried.

E'er days of bliss or bleak chagrin
We each must heed His call
Our lives to live as His design
But must He have my all?

Waft every crest upon your destined sea
Embrace the Wave of Serendipity
Lest its elusive arcane ecstasy
Refurl with sail for all eternity

Oh Nan ... I'm so sorry. This is truly unusual to have it touch so many in your family in this way. Your poem expresses your thoughts beautifully and with the tenderness and concern of a loving mother .... many hugs to you all ...

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Nan, I'm sure that you will hug them all even closer to your heart now. This is a heavy load for one family to carry. I will keep you in my thoughts of love and peace.

I'm so glad you shared this and soooo sorry you and your children have this cross to bear.  It's already difficult bringing children up today when they're healthy, but God knows you're so capable and will be a testament in more than your beautiful poetry.
Bless each of you,

I dont' know what is worse the infliction of this illness on a child, or the strain it puts on a Mother's heartstrings, for she will hold on so tightly with all her love that it hurts.  This is terrible news for you Nan, but if those apples don't fall far from the tree, they are strong.  I wish you all strength, love, and may your ties to each other never feel any strain.  God Bless, and here is a hug from this laptop until I can give you a real one.

I'm so sorry to hear this, fate is indeed cruel to inflict this on two of your children. There have been so many advances in diabetes and I pray that these will keep your children well and strong.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Nan,
Mike is right about the children. And perhaps all our love for you will help you through. You know you have mine.

*tears* You and they are all in my prayers, Nan. Yes, we would stand in their place, take all their ills upon ourselves, to spare them any of the pain. (((HUGS)))

I am attending a meeting tomorrow on this very subject, and I doubt I will learn anything new to share with you, but now, now I will listen just a little more carefully, for more than we know [and I have a friend who shares this with yours] are affected daily by this terrible affliction...

but if I do learn something new I shall pass it on...

you never know where angels reside...

and He won't give you more than you can bear....

hugs...
